Roles I Play Everyday

It is not certain for a person to act the same way every day. Someday, he may play the role of a certain kind of person, and any other day, he may be playing the role of a whole different kind of person. Now if you ask me, it’s not up to him to decide the role he’s going to play for the rest of the day. In any normal case, the mood of the person and the kind of situation he is in, dictates the roles he plays. Similarly, I play different kinds of roles, and most of the time, I am not even aware about the role I am playing. It all depends on the mood, emotion and situation.

Well, it’s not possible for me to write about all the roles I’ve played till this date, therefore I’ll focus on a particular day. In this case, I’ll write about the roles I played on my last birthday. Well, I didn’t actually plan to play any kind of role, but the circumstances led me to play the role of a proud person. It was my birthday and the day I get treated the best by every single person.  It was a real good feeling to be in that position.

Now moving on to the details of that particular day, I was in my normal self, a bit serious and quiet until I met my friends. Well, things get out of control quite often when we are with our friends, but that was the day when I could dictate almost everything. I was simply playing the role of a proud person, enjoying and fully utilizing the power I had. Everyone was trying hard to meet the birthday boy’s increasing high demands and the birthday boy couldn’t have felt any better. Well, as hard as others were trying to keep me happy, they might have equally been frustrated with how proud and selfish I was being. But, birthdays come once a year, so they had no other choice but to deal with it.

Later that day, I was with my family to celebrate my birthday. This time, I switched my role to a loving son. Now like I said, it’s not something I decide to do, it simply happens automatically. Well my mom was preparing lunch for us all, and I was just trying to help her, although I’m very bad at it. But me, trying to help her did make her feel good, as she doesn’t see me doing that too often.  Anyways, all members of my family were trying hard to make me feel special, and I was simply appreciating what they were doing for me.

So that’s how the day went, with me playing two different kinds of roles.  That’s what we human beings do, consciously or sub-consciously, we all end up playing different sorts of roles to adapt to different situations. And it’s vital for us to switch roles according to the situation we’re in, to avoid awkward moments and blend in with the surrounding.
